Whether it’s time to have your preschooler acclimate to a school day for September or keep them active, your child will come home smiling from the opportunities offered in the Garfield Y’s preschool camp. Children experience the best of both worlds-learning and play. The preschool summer camp is staffed with childcare professionals who work with children all year long. Childcare is their profession. All have qualifications as well as being trained in first aid and C.P.R.
School aged campers have fun while building self-confidence, appreciating teamwork, learning conflict resolution and gaining independence. Day camp activities allow kids to create arts and crafts, explore science and technology, swim and appreciate nature.
The YMCA Counselor-in-Training program is designed to foster student interest in community development and leadership with children in a camp setting. The program includes implementing camp curriculum, decision-making, public speaking, and problem-solving. CIT’s are never responsible for the direct supervision of children. The program is divided into two major components: a 90-minute workshop in the morning and a practicum in the afternoon.
The YMCA has 5 core values; Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibly and Inclusion. Our staff models our values. Before long, they become second nature to all of our campers.
Many program and pricing structures available and optional specialty camps al la carte for day or non-campers.
