GlassRoots Summer Camp
GlassRoots offers one and two-week summer camp programs for kids ages 10 to 18 years old. Summer camps run from June 24th to August 9th and offer an introduction to three types of glass-art making. No experience necessary. BEADMAKING - MOLTEN MAGIC: GlassRoots staff will guide you through the development of designs for beads and jewelry while introducing basic art and design concepts. CREATING WITH FLAST GLASS, WARM AND COLD: Often called "warm glass", you’ll learn the science and process of fusing, slumping and kiln casting glass. After an introduction to the kilns, create a "bas" or
low relief tile in a glass kiln casting project. GLASSBLOWING - BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE (ages 14 and up): The art of glass blowing originated in the Middle East about 2000 years ago. In many ways, the tools and techniques used then are still used today! In this class, you’ll learn basic traditional postures, techniques and forms of blown glass.
